The Voxfrock Rookie Crew is a selective industry-based mentoring programme for tertiary graduates of journalism, photography and related study majors who have a genuine interest in developing high quality strategies to report, write and photograph fashion as a complex and inspiring social construct. Crews of emerging fashion photographers and journalists have been run for more than a decade by veteran fashion editor Janice Breen Burns (mentoring journalism) and legendary Vogue Australia shooter Monty Coles (mentoring photography).
Star graduates of the Voxfrock Rookie programme, Chrissy Dore and Tilly Parsons, have also been more recently appointed crew mentors.
Applications for the next intake of Voxfrock Rookies who will be coached through coverage of Melbourne Fashion Week 2024 runways and independent events as journalist/photographer crews, are now open. Theadora is a science graduate and studied film animation and photography at Deakin University. She is also a seasoned traveller, equally passionate about photography, fashion and far-off destinations. Theadora's fashion photography is nuanced, narrative-driven and tends to the reportage.

After completing a degree in mathematical physics, Grace founded her made-to-measure fashion label, Gaia Custom. The brand is focused on making made-to-measure the new standard of fashion by infusing cutting edge technology into its manufacturing process. Grace is an avid lover of fashion and uses social media as a voice for change and, "To rebrand Melbourne fashion and carve a path forward for eco-conscious fashion.
JOURNALIST
Alice is a legendary fashion and costumes designer with 30 years experience now branching into new projects including this foray into journalism with the Voxfrock Rookie Crew. Alice cut her teeth in the studio of revolutionary British designer Christopher Kane. Since 2010, her eponymous label has been sought out by some of fashion's most fabulous characters from London to New York, Paris to Melbourne, including DJs, performance artists, drag queens, flamboyant musicians and pop stars. Edgeley's work across film, theatre and fashion is thoroughly grounded in the deep historical research she brings, not only to her designs, but to her astute analysis of contemporary clothing codes and trends.
JOURNALIST
With three years in nightlife, experience in both contemporary and vintage fashion, Ru Elliott continues to explore the links between the past and contemporary fashion and the current Zeitgeist. Having been invited to NGV events and helped curate exhibitions for MFW, Ru now works with local designers in a variety of roles and intends to return to study in the near future. Ru's journalism projects have also featured publications such as Alice.D magazine and in zines based in Melbourne, London and Paris.

Emma and Sophia both completed a Bachelor of Design Communication at RMIT in 2022. Since then they have worked together to create two publications under their brand ‘Look!’. They have always had an interest in fashion, and were able to explore this deeper through Look! Book publication. They worked with designers and creatives in the fashion industry to create a visually immersive experience through photography and interviews. Focusing on mix media, Emm and Sophia combine photography, collage and graphic design in their work.

FashLab gatherings are currently scheduled on a month-to-two montly basis and location can vary. Invitations are sent out a week ahead of meetings to members registered on our portal.
FashLab is a two-way touchpoint for potentially helpful entities such as the Australian Fashion Council, Melbourne Fashion Week, Melbourne Fashion Festival and relevant creative and trade arms of state and local government.
